Nallei Jerring Nyerboing - Trade Centre
Box Hill Institue - LilyDale
The Nallei Jerring Nyerboing trade centre is a state of the art facility that allows the staff of Box Hill Institute to deliver courses in Building and construction, carpentry, electrotechnology, electrical, plumbing and Automotive. This space focuses on tradesperson innovative training for the core trades, focusing on sustainability, future skill needs and employability skills.
When deciding the name of the new trade centre, Box Hill Institute engaged Elders from the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation for their advice on a name in their traditional language, Woi wurrung. After several meetings on site at the Lilydale Lakeside campus, including a tour of the new facility, Aunty Doreen Garvey-Wandin, a Senior Elder obtained the 'feel' for the campus and the 'energy' of the trade centre and after consulting with other traditional owners came up with an appropriate name for the building 'Nellei Jerring Nyerboing' meaning "Join Unite Industrious"
