The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development commissioned our office to design, document and to administer the construction of a new school building for Boneo Primary School.This included six new class rooms, library, IT teaching spaces, administration, sick bay, amenities and immediate courtyards to classrooms with operable walls. The building program required that the school operate, without stoppage, during the construction period, except for scheduled school holidays.

Prior to the project, the school struggled to fill the available enrollment to its full capacity; two years after the project there is a waiting list.

The selection of materials required Part J / ESD compliance, including thermally improved cladding, roofing, glazing, cross ventilation, cowls with dampers to manage heat, overhangs, water tanks for gardens and WC flushing. The project was designed within 5 weeks, including extensive client consultation and approval. It was documented within 8 weeks. The tendering and construction took place over 12 months, with architectural variations of less than 3%.
